Seniors: 30 minutes of sport per day could save you 5 years of life

Practice a half hour of exercise daily, intensely moderate, prolong the life expectancy of persons 70 years 5 years

Sport, whether mild, moderate or severe, practiced six days per week, is associated with reduced mortality risk of about 40% on average in their seventies. This is the conclusion of a Norwegian epidemiological study of 16,000 men born between 1923 and 1932.
To achieve this, the scientists examined and interviewed 6,000 volunteers in 1972 and 1973 then interviewed again in 2000 and followed until 2011. The medically level of physical activity of the participants was taken into account both in terms of weekly hours that the intensity of exercise sport.
Practicing at least three hours of sport per week could well prolong the life expectancy of five years compared to sedentary seventies, according to the study published in the British journal British Journal of Sports Medicine.
Another interesting point: "to reduce mortality, all causes of death, sustained physical activity would also be beneficial that to stop smoking," the authors point out, Ingar Holme and Sigmund Alfred Anderssen, two specialists in sports medicine the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences in Oslo.
